Alarm Monitoring

The alarm monitoring and dispatch module is the central function in the Safecon system.

The System automatically displays exception and emergency signals for quick and pertinent operator handling. All signals appear on the list of unprocessed alarms (UPL) based on priority, signal type and arrival time in the system. Safecon may be configured to stepwise increase the priority of signals that have not been processed within a predefined timeframe.

Safecon monitors resources, open/close signals, restore and test signals, and other events that require operator attention. The system is focused on handling the most important and urgent tasks, such as the dispatch operation.

Each alarm operator has access to the UPL from which he takes signals (by priority or by individual choice) and transfers them to his own processing list PL.

In addition to the management by exception, Safecon automates a lot of functions and communication. Alarm dependant instructions, two-way communication, switching of telephones and auto-dialling are part of the easy-to-use interface that provides efficiency to the alarm operator.

Predefined standard alarm responses are handled by the Automated Alarm Handling by predefined rules.

From the processing list the operator can retrieve information about the customer, initiate several dispatch types, end the signal indicating specific or predefined causes or cancel the signal. The PL is updated continuously and shows the actual status of the signal and processing progress. Changes to the signals are indicated by colour changes. The operator can transfer signals to a Waiting List with a timer, to another operator, or back to the UPL. The operator can view signals on other processing lists, but he cannot process them unless they are transferred to his processing list, because any action taken by an operator is logged with this operator’s ID.

The system administrator has his own list with system messages and messages concerning communication, user and efficiency data.

Non-emergency signals are processed without operator action. Off-site personnel can even be alerted to special conditions by pager, mobile telephone or an Internet browser.

All operators are assigned individual rights, and they may belong to one or more service centres. Signals and tasks are distributed to the assigned service centres and appear on the UPL of operators with rights to process the signals.

The dispatch function allows auto-dialling of predefined telephone numbers, e.g. key holders, police and fire stations, doctors, nurses, watchmen or service operators. The preferred telephone numbers are denoted in colour code depending on type of signal and time of day.

The system has an extensive log, but it may be configured to show the last five real alarms in the primary information window for each account.

Safecon is available in many languages and can be configured to suit individual needs.
