Ireland and Lithuania will be the third and fourth country in the European Union using vCatch. The system is developed to support European Union legislation regarding electronic logbooks.
Ireland will be the third EU country that is going to use Sirius IT´s vCatch system for electronic logbooks. Sirius IT has after procurement in Ireland, won the project in cooperation with SatLink S.A. from Spain. The delivery includes new satellite equipment for fishery vessels, vCatch vessel-client and a new system for the Irish fishing inspectors.
The new system for the inspectors is a customized solution that provides the fishery inspectors with better data when carrying out inspections and the possibility to enter reports on a laptop. Sirius IT is going to deliver this special developed solution and the vCatch vessel-client. Ireland wishes to use the existing server-system for receiving logbooks. Therefore it is only the vessel-client that has been in procurement.
Sirius It is also going to deliver vCatch to Lithuania. Lithuania will thereby be the forth country in the EU that is going to use the system. Lithuania will receive the standard version including the vessel-client and server module. Sirius IT will be delivering the solution in cooperation with Affecto in Lithuania, who is presence locally and has experience with delivery in the public sector in Lithuania.
Affecto provides the translation and installation on the Lithuanian vessels. The Lithuanian fishery authority is already a Sirius IT customer as they use the vTrack system to satellite surveillance of the positions of the vessels.
vCatch is a standard system developed by Sirius IT to support EU’s legislation regarding electronic logbooks. Sirius IT originally developed vCatch in cooperation with The Danish Directorate of Fishery. Apart from Ireland and Lithuania the system is sold to Denmark and Sweden.
