Enterprise Architecture

Enterprise Architecture (EA) is in general about the link between business strategy, business processes and technology support, and about the prioritisation of focus areas in order to optimise the organisation’s ressource employment.

Thus, the starting point for the work of Sirius IT’s enterprise architects is the customer’s wish for a more holistic architectural process with a view to streamlining processes and the technological platform, i.e. to ensure disintegration of silos and thus incorporating transverse process- and technology support.

Customers, who have already implemented digitalisation of business processes, will often have a relatively streamlined technological foundation, why the starting point for the work of Sirius IT’s enterprise architects typically is more focused on new innovative possibilities for exploiting this foundation driven by a row of business- and administrative needs with the customer.

Strategy, Business and Technology as a Whole

An important quality of Sirius IT’s enterprise architects is their ability to cooperate and communicate with key persons from the customer and our own organisation – on different organisational levels and technical areas – in order to establish and refine a comprehensive view on the customer’s strategy, business and technology.

During this work the architecture is modelled from a number of perspectives (use cases, process charts, data models, solution architectures etc.) which again is supported by the development of business cases, so that the general commercial focus is maintained. The main purpose is to create an overview and a common understanding in order to realise the expected commercial profits in specific projects.

Though an enterprise architect is adequately qualified to perform more detailed analyses, an enterprise architect will rarely go into details, but in stead he will draw on our business consultants and/or system architects depending on the focus. It is the enterprise architect’s responsibility to assure the coherence between the different areas (strategy, business and technology), but not necessarily to create the basis on his own.

Profile

As the first in Europe all Sirius IT’s enterprise architects are ”Certified Enterprise Architects” from the Carnegie Mellon university in Pittsburgh, USA, which represents the only acknowledged EA certification in Europe. The education consists of three modules, which can be completed in three months. The lesson plan originates from North America, which is leading within EA, but in Europe it is modified to European standards.

All Sirius IT’s enterprise architects have 10 years broad experience as a minimum within business and technology, where most of them have built this experience through assignments for authorities in the public sector.
